Become a sponsor for Exonerated Nation’s Backyard Barbeque Fundraiser!

Exonerated Nation’s (EN) Backyard Barbeque Fundraiser Celebration is Honoring 13 Years of Freedom for Exoneree and EN founder Obie Anthony on August 17, 2024.  All tax-deductible contributions will be used to support EN’s programs assisting the wrongfully convicted when they are released from incarceration.  Obie Anthony founded EN after spending almost two decades in state prison for a crime he did not commit.

Imagine being locked up for 17 years of your life when you’re innocent… It is estimated that there are up to 10,000 wrongful convictions annually in the U.S. To date, over 3,500 wrongfully convicted individuals have been exonerated since 1989, yet the vast majority never receive compensation or support for the years lost. It is an unforgivable tragedy that these innocent individuals have lost years of their lives to a broken system. Even worse, the vast majority of exonerees never receive compensation for the years lost and the federal government and many states don’t have established programs to help exonerees secure housing, access health care or mental health services, and obtain employment as they transition from prison to home, family, community, and life.

Join Exonerated Nation in our mission to address this human rights issue. We provide immediate services to exonerees upon release, advocate and lead the charge for policy change, and build a healing community for survivors of wrongful conviction in Missouri and across the nation. Our mission is implemented in two primary areas: 1. Legislative action and advocacy that provides education to policy makers and mobilizes constituents and allies to advocate and support the development of legislation that improves the lives of exonerees and furthers overall criminal justice reform; and 2. Mental health initiatives that provide multiple services and activities to support the healing  and reintegration of exonerated individuals and their families through annual healing retreats, outdoor activities to support mental and physical well-being, welcome-home packages, peer mentorship, and innovative research and data collection to better understand the long-term psychological effects of wrongful convictions and identify effective interventions and support strategies.

To help maintain our mission and organizational efforts, we seek YOUR support. On August 17, 2024, Exonerated Nation will host a fundraiser in St. Louis, MO, home of our executive director, Obie Anthony. As a corporate sponsor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the event’s success. We hope to count on your commitment to help us reach our fundraising goal for this event of $50,000. Please see the sponsorship levels below.
